MOUNT ZUGSPITZE: THE HIGHEST SOLAR INSTALLATION IN GERMANY

In 2010, the INTERSOL mounting system was used to fit a rooftop and facade installation at the summit of the highest mountain in Germany. Both systems (roof and facade) were installed largely using standard mounting components from the INTERSOL range.

ATTACHING THE COMPONENTS

A total of 420 anchors were used to attach the module supports to the reinforced concrete facade of the gondola station. This system was designed to resist wind speeds of up to 250 km/h.

LOADING ASSUMPTIONS USED FOR STATIC CALCULATIONS

The static calculations for the mounting system had to take the following loading into account:

Snow loading: sk = 14.0 kN/m²

Wind suction q = 3.01 kN/m²

These correspond to 7.00m of snow, assuming that it is a mixture of new and slightly wet old snow, and a wind speed of 250 km/h.
